Summary of Position Responsibilities

The Transformation Healthcare INC (THI) OMHC Mental Health Therapist is responsible to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and counseling and support services for a mixed caseload including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health issues, communication challenges, or family conflict. This is an opportunity to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, providing services to a broad spectrum of clients. The Mental Health Therapist will be familiar with other services and resources in the community and work closely with them to provide information and support when required.

Duties:

  •  Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  •  Conduct outreach and referral activities in surrounding communities, including the Tribes, County, schools, and human service agencies.
  •  Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
  •  Plan and conduct programs to prevent substance abuse or improve community health and counseling services.
  •  Act as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  •  Evaluate clients' mental condition based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  •  Conduct initial family assessments and refer patients, clients, or family members tocommunity resources or to specialists as necessary.
  •  Develop and implement treatment plans based on DA, clinical experience andknowledge.
  •  Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.
  •  Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their livesand help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  •  Counsel clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist them in overcomingdependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
  •  Provide individual and family counseling services using family management principles to clients.
  •  Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.
  •  Meet with families, school staff, probation officers, law enforcement, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  •  Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy.
  •  Provide collateral consultation as appropriate as well as court testimony as required.
  •  Submit billing and other related paperwork in a timely fashion.
  •  Maintain all professional licensure(s) required and provide prompt cooperation with third party credentialing for billing purposes.
  •  Maintain up-to-date client and program records as required.
  •  Prepare monthly written reports on demographics, presenting issues, and outcomes, and summarizing project results.
  •  Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  •  Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
  •  Prepare and submit written quarterly and annual reports as required.
  •  Maintain accurate records of expenditures, with receipts, for all employment-related activity.
  •  Conduct activities related to compliance with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting, HIPPA, and the Data Privacy Act.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in an office environment; includes continuous contact with staff and the public. Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room; work exposes incumbent to contagious or infectious diseases; work may expose incumbent to dangerous and volatile situations; which could result in bodily injury.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  •  2+ years’ experience with providing diagnostic assessment and therapy services to a full range of individuals from youth through adulthood or working as a social worker
  •  Valid license as an LCPC
  •  Maintain professional licensure and/or certification throughout employment with this agency
  •  Must be able to work flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends on occasion
  •  Superb organizational skills and ability to guide, direct, or influence people
  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •  Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with mentally or emotionally disabled persons and their families

Typical Physical Requirements:

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; normal manual dexterity and eye hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, and copiers. Move and lift light objects up to 25 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.
